My Night-Time Skin Routine

I’m sharing my night-time skin routine and I’m very curious about yours too!  I’m posting this at a friend’s request and I hope it helps!  I know all of these steps sound time consuming and daunting but it is so worth it.  You only have one face…spend some time for YOU and unwind after a long day.

Before we get started, it is important to understand that the skin regeneration process happens at night.  This means that cell turnover and changes happen while we sleep.  Leaving makeup on our face while we sleep will not only disrupt this process; but prevent your products from doing their job!  If you don’t cleanse, fine…but at the very least, remove that makeup before you snooze!

  • Remove any make-up from your skin:
    • I either use a hot, steamy wash cloth or a make-up wipe.  I gently wipe around my face, neck and very lightly on eyes. Never rub too hard on your skin.
    • I have also tried applying coconut oil and it seems to work too.  After you apply the oil and rub gently, you can remove with a washcloth.
  • Cleanse
    • Use a gentle cleanser for your skin type, apply and rub in a circular motion all over your face AND neck.  (Remember, you neck is just an extension of your face so don’t skip it.)  I take my time and cleanse for 2 -3 minutes before rinsing with lukewarm water – hot water can dry out your skin!
    • Gently pat dry your face and neck with a clean towel.
  • Apply toner
    • I apply toner to a small cotton round and wipe gently all over my face and neck.  Toner allows for your product to absorb into your skin as it helps to open your pores.  I find that it can also remove any last traces of dirt and oil in (or last traces of make-up) in case some of it is still there.
  • Apply serum and wait
    • If you use any serums, apply them directly after you tone.
    • Here are some easy DIY serums if you are interested.
      • Hyaluronic Acid serum: (don’t let the term acid scare you)
        • 1/4 cup distilled water
        • 1/8 tsp. Hyaluronic acid powder
        • 1/2 tsp. vegetable glycerin
        • Green tea bag
        • 3 drops of essential oil such as lavender
          • Bring water to a boil and remove from heat.  Add tea bag and let completely cool.  In a separate bowl mix powder and vegetable glycerin.  Add tea to mixture and mix well.  Add 3 – 4 drops of essential oil.
      • Oil Serum:
  • Apply moisturizer and Eye Cream
    • Before I apply my moisturizer, I wait a bit to let the serum absorb into my skin,  During this time, I apply eye cream, dabbing gently under my eyes and onto my eyelids.
*Acne
If you are fighting acne and you find that it simply will not go away no matter what you have tried, you may need to use a special face wash, cream or even take medication.  Do not underestimate the importance of visiting a dermatologist!
For acne, I have used my oil face wash method, I have used Aczone and also Spirolactone for great results.  Aczone and Spirolactone both require a prescription from your dermatologist.

    Thanks Ali. Love the information. My main change has been that Peaches & Creamies is now my favorite nighttime cream. Actually morning and night. The Lavender helps aid in sleep also. I use your products also for my daytime routine.
